New Ross Settlement and Development
Sherbrooke (New Ross) has been founded, and Ross Farm Museum is celebrating!!! On this day in 1816, 172 disbanded soldiers of the Nova Scotia and Newfoundland Fencibles regiments arrived on the shores of Lake Lawson to take up the lands granted to them by the Governor of the Province! 154 years later in 1970, Ross Farm Museum was opened to present and preserve the agricultural story of that settlement! What did the first colonists find? Who were they and how did they survive? We will be investigating the anniversary of the settlement and development of the Sherbrooke Colony (New Ross) with special guests and special activities that reflect the early days of New Ross.
